Ice

Last week, we had a little ice storm. Kelsey and I played soccer with some firewood, which was pretty cool to watch slide across the ice. Some of the pieces were completely encased in ice. We didn't get the wood split and stacked before the snow came early and deep. The snow you see in the video is what was left after our recent melt. Our snow blower is seeing a lot of action this year.

Here is Kelsey skating on our driveway. Eric has since removed the big pile of firewood and leaves and the accompanying shredded tarp.

Judas, these videos take FOREVER to upload.

How do you not break your hips as soon as you leave the house? That looks lethal for any footwear other than skates...

You learn to walk very carefully. And you put down salt and sand. But mostly you stay inside. But not everyone does stay inside. Wisconsin has the highest rate of deaths from falls in the United States. Scary, huh? I suppose it's a combination of all that ice and the immense amount of alcohol we drink. And the fact that we think we can handle a little ice when we really need to snuggle in front of a fireplace instead of going outside.

This looks like so much fun! Kelsey makes me want to be a kid again! I would, in fact, break something if I tried to do this! Please tell Kelsey I'm enjoying her skating vicariously at least and tell her thanks from her Aunt Marcia!

Ice skating on the driveway?! Ha. Crazy. (Kate and I only shoot 30 sec vids - or smaller - for the same frustrating reason you alluded to!)
